A 15-year-old was shot and taken to Harborview Medical Center after more than 90 rounds of gunfire erupted near the Van Asselt Community Centre in South Seattle on the evening of 26 June, in what investigators are describing as a significant outbreak of gun violence in the Beacon Hill neighbourhood.
The shooting occurred at approximately 9 p.m. at the corner of Myrtle Street and Beacon Avenue. The teenager was struck by gunfire while in the doorway of the community centre building. The condition of the victim has not been publicly updated.
The suspect or suspects fled the scene in a dark-coloured sedan. As of Sunday, investigators had not released additional details about the vehicle or any persons of interest. Officers have been canvassing the surrounding area for bullet casings and other physical evidence, and are reviewing footage from nearby surveillance cameras in an effort to identify those responsible.
The investigation is ongoing.
