A 25-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a double homicide and arson that occurred in Gig Harbor, Washington, on April 8, 2025. The suspect, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, was apprehended by the SWAT team and the Pierce County Sheriff’s Special Investigations Unit at 9:06 a.m. on May 20, 2025. He faces two counts of first-degree murder and one count of first-degree arson in connection with the deaths of 64-year-old Oliverio Huitron-Rosalez and 31-year-old Alejandro Huitron Campos, both residents of Gig Harbor.

The tragic incident began with a house fire in the 15600 block of 14th Avenue NW, which led to the discovery of the victims’ bodies. Initially, authorities treated the fire as suspicious, but further investigation revealed that both men had been shot in the head before the fire was set. The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the cause of death as gunshot wounds and ruled their deaths as homicides. Investigators believe that the fire was intentionally set afterward, likely in an attempt to conceal the crime.

The arrest comes after an extensive investigation, which included the collection of surveillance footage from the surrounding neighborhood. Authorities pieced together details of the crime, which helped lead to the identification of the suspect. The arrest marks a significant development in what had originally been treated as a fire-related incident.

The Gig Harbor community has been left shaken by the double homicide, with many residents expressing concerns about safety in newly rented homes and the potential for violent crimes in residential neighborhoods. Although authorities have not yet released a motive for the killings, the case remains under active investigation. The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office has vowed to continue its efforts to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the crime.

This arrest highlights the importance of thorough investigative work and community cooperation in solving serious crimes. Local authorities have been praised for their diligence in handling the case and bringing the suspect into custody. As the investigation continues, the Gig Harbor community and local law enforcement remain committed to ensuring justice for the victims and addressing public safety concerns.

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office has not provided further details on the suspect’s identity or the potential motive for the murders, but the case is a stark reminder of the risks associated with violent crime in seemingly quiet residential areas. The arrest is seen as a step toward closure for the victims’ families and a sign of the continued dedication of law enforcement to solving complex cases.
