A 25-year-old man suffered life-threatening stab wounds Wednesday evening in an attack near Denny Way and 7th Avenue North, prompting a swift police response that led to an arrest.
The victim collapsed in front of a Seattle Police Department vehicle around 7:45 p.m., having sustained multiple stab wounds during what authorities describe as an altercation between two men. Paramedics transported him to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition.
The incident began with a physical confrontation, though investigators continue examining what precipitated the violence. Following the attack, the suspect fled the immediate area.
Officers tracked a blood trail from the scene to a nearby apartment building, where they located a 35-year-old man who claimed he had been attacked on a bus. Police arrested the individual, who now faces booking into King County Jail.
The stabbing occurred in the South Lake Union area, a densely populated neighborhood adjacent to Seattle Center. The swift police response and arrest suggest the incident was contained quickly, though the investigation remains active.
Seattle Police have not released the identities of either the victim or suspect, citing the ongoing investigation. The victim’s current medical status has not been updated since his initial transport to the hospital.
This marks another violent incident in Seattle’s urban core, where police continue addressing street-level conflicts that escalate to serious violence.
