Kent police are investigating a homicide after a 26-year-old man was fatally stabbed early Saturday at an apartment complex on the city’s West Hill.

Patrol officers responded at 12:34 a.m. to the 25700 block of 27th Place South after a 911 caller reported an unwanted person. The first officer arrived within minutes and found the victim injured in the parking lot. The man was bleeding heavily and was conscious but unable to speak. The officer discovered a significant wound to the man’s torso that appeared consistent with a stab wound.

The officer began lifesaving efforts, including placing a chest seal over the injury to stop the bleeding. Medics transported the man to a local hospital, where he later died during surgery. Officers and detectives interviewed multiple people at the apartment complex. Police said preliminary information indicates the incident was isolated.

No suspect information was immediately released. The circumstances surrounding the stabbing remain unclear, including what led to the confrontation and whether the victim and suspect knew each other. Police have not disclosed whether they are searching for a specific individual or if the suspect may have been among those interviewed at the scene.

Anyone who witnessed the stabbing or has information is asked to call the Kent Police Tip Line at 253-856-5808 or email KPDTipLine@kentwa.gov. Time-sensitive information should be reported to the non-emergency dispatch line at 253-852-2121. Anyone who knows the identity or location of the suspect should call 911.
