Seattle police arrested an 18-year-old man in the early hours of Monday morning in Capitol Hill after a security guard called 911 to report a man screaming death threats at another person, leading officers to detain a masked suspect carrying a firearm with a destroyed serial number.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m. on 27 April, when a 911 operator received a call from a security guard in the 100 block of Broadway East. The guard reported overhearing a man threatening to kill another person, with screaming and what sounded like begging audible in the background. Officers arriving at the scene found a man in a ski mask fleeing the area and attempting to conceal something in his waistband.

Officers detained the suspect and recovered a firearm with its serial number destroyed tucked into his waistband. The victim was not located at the scene. The suspect was arrested and booked into the King County Jail on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, alteration of identifying marks, furtively carrying a dangerous weapon, and carrying a weapon without a permit.

Detectives from the Gun Violence Reduction Unit have been assigned to investigate the case.
