A 19-year-old University of Washington student has been stabbed to death in the laundry room of an off-campus apartment complex near the Burke-Gilman Trail, and authorities are now searching for an armed and dangerous suspect who remains at large.
The emergency call was placed at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Sunday. The stabbing occurred at the Nordheim Court apartments, located near University Village. The University of Washington Police Department described the incident as “deeply distressing,” and confirmed it is working jointly with the Seattle Police Department on the investigation. Officials said they do not believe the suspect is a student at the university, and the nature of any relationship between the suspect and the victim remains unclear. The case is being investigated as a homicide.
Police are searching for a Black male approximately 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall, with a slim build, black hair, and a beard. He was last seen wearing a button-up shirt, a dark blue vest, and blue jeans. Authorities are warning the public to consider the suspect armed and dangerous and not to approach him.
In response to the active search, police are urging students and residents in the area surrounding the university to remain vigilant, travel in pairs, and report any suspicious activity immediately. Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or the Seattle Police Department’s violent crimes tip line at 206-233-5000.
