About The Seattle Today

The Seattle Today is a digital-first news publication covering the city we live in: its politics, its businesses, its neighborhoods and the people who keep it running.

We started in 2025 and we are published by Granary Holdings LLC, an independent company based in Seattle. We are not owned by a chain, a hedge fund or a national network. Editorial decisions are made here.

What we cover

Local news and breaking events in Seattle and King County. Business, with a particular focus on the independent operators who rarely get written about, including a long-running series of interviews with local business owners. Data journalism about how the city actually works. And national stories where there is a real Seattle angle, rather than because everyone else is covering them.

How we work

Every story carries the name of the person who reported it. We name our sources wherever we can and link to the documents behind our reporting so readers can check us. When we get something wrong we correct it in the open, and our corrections policy explains how. Our editorial standards set out the rest.

Seattle Today Studio

Seattle Today Studio is our branded content and production arm. It makes video and written features for businesses that want to reach our readers. Everything the Studio produces is clearly labeled as sponsored, and the newsroom has no obligation to cover a Studio client favorably or at all. Advertising pays for reporting; it does not shape it.
