Bellevue Man Charged With Murder After Investigators Allege He Strangled Wife and Staged Bathroom Scene

The husband initially told investigators his wife had a history of panic attacks and gastrointestinal issues, and that he had been running errands before discovering her locked in the bathroom upon his return. That account began to unravel the following day, when the King County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the death a homicide caused by asphyxia due to strangulation, citing neck contusions and fractures consistent with the cause of death.

Subsequent search warrants and forensic analysis allegedly contradicted significant portions of the husband’s story. Electronic records from the apartment’s SmartRent locking system showed no one entered or exited the unit during the window he claimed to be running errands, indicating he was the only person with access to the apartment during the timeframe investigators believe the killing occurred. Investigators also examined the bathroom door lock and determined it could be engaged simply by closing the door after turning the lock from inside, leading them to conclude the victim’s body could have been placed in the bathroom after the killing and the door secured from the outside.

Search warrants for the husband’s phone and messaging accounts revealed what detectives described as an ongoing romantic relationship with a woman in India that predated his arranged marriage and allegedly continued after his wedding in June 2025. Court records allege the husband initially denied any extramarital relationship when questioned, but investigators recovered WhatsApp messages, photographs, and call records they say show the relationship continued throughout the marriage. Detectives also allege he exchanged multiple calls with the woman on the day of his wife’s death, including during the period he claimed to be attempting to access the locked bathroom.

Investigators further allege messages recovered during the investigation referenced unusual-tasting drinks and smoothies the husband had prepared for his wife in the months before her death. The probable cause statement also notes that during a voluntary interview in June 2026, he changed portions of his account regarding marijuana use after being confronted with evidence that THC had been detected during the autopsy.

Police allege the husband had a motive to kill his wife, namely that she stood in the way of a future relationship with the other woman. Investigators have requested he be charged with first-degree murder. At a first hearing on 29 June, prosecutors requested he be held on $5 million bail, arguing he poses a flight risk given his international ties and a recent move to Virginia after leaving his job in Washington.
