On May 8, 2025, Washington State Patrol (WSP) troopers arrested two brothers, Victor A. Hernandez-Paredes, 21, and Daniel O. Hernandez-Paredes, 18, following separate high-speed chases on Interstate 90 (I-90) near Seattle. The incidents, marked by dangerous driving and interference with law enforcement, were captured on dashcam footage and involved multiple law enforcement agencies.

The sequence of events began around 8:20 p.m. when a WSP trooper attempted to stop a vehicle for improper merging on westbound I-90 near Preston. The driver, later identified as Victor A. Hernandez-Paredes, refused to stop, initiating a high-speed pursuit. Despite a Pursuit Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver, Victor continued to evade troopers, reaching speeds exceeding 100 mph. The chase proceeded until his vehicle lost a tire and spun out on an eastbound I-90 ramp, facing the wrong direction.

During the pursuit, a silver Infiniti G37, driven by Victor’s brother, Daniel O. Hernandez-Paredes, repeatedly interfered with troopers’ efforts. Dashcam video shows the Infiniti pulling in front of the trooper’s patrol car, attempting to block the pursuit. After Victor’s vehicle spun out, Daniel’s Infiniti sped off westbound on I-90.

Victor was taken into custody after his vehicle ended up in a ditch. Troopers discovered a female passenger holding a child on her lap in the front seat; fortunately, no injuries were reported. Victor was booked into King County Jail for investigation of felony eluding, two counts of reckless endangerment, obstruction, and DUI.

Meanwhile, troopers, aided by Department of Transportation cameras and the King County Sheriff’s Guardian One helicopter, located Daniel’s Infiniti on westbound I-90 near Bellevue. The vehicle exited into Seattle on Rainier Avenue, where Seattle Police Department officers assisted in stopping the car near Swift and Albro. Daniel was arrested and booked into jail for investigation of felony eluding, reckless driving, and obstruction.

The entire incident was captured on dashcam video, which has been widely circulated by news outlets. The footage shows the dangerous maneuvers executed by both brothers and the challenges faced by law enforcement during the pursuits. Public reaction has been one of concern over the reckless behavior and relief that no injuries occurred.

This incident underscores the dangers of high-speed pursuits and the potential risks to public safety. The involvement of multiple law enforcement agencies and the use of aerial surveillance highlight the resources required to manage such situations. The fact that no injuries occurred is a testament to the coordinated efforts of the responding officers.
