Hundreds of community members gathered Monday evening at Seattle Center’s International Fountain to honor the victims of the mass shooting that claimed three lives and injured several others during the Bite of Seattle festival. The vigil brought together grieving families, residents and city leaders in a show of solidarity as the community continued to process one of Seattle’s deadliest recent acts of gun violence.

Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson, Police Chief Shon Barnes and King County Executive Girmay Zahilay joined those in attendance, offering condolences to the victims’ families and reaffirming the city’s commitment to supporting those affected. Speakers acknowledged the pain caused by the tragedy while calling for unity and continued efforts to address gun violence in the community.

Attendees lit candles, laid flowers and observed moments of silence in memory of the victims. Many embraced one another, shared prayers and reflected on the lives lost, while others expressed hope that the gathering would provide comfort to survivors and families mourning their loved ones.

The vigil came a day after gunfire erupted near the Seattle Center Armory during the final day of the Bite of Seattle festival. Authorities have arrested a 15-year-old in connection with the shooting and continue searching for at least one additional suspect as detectives investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack.
