Detectives are stepping in to investigate an officer-involved shooting that grew out of a domestic violence call in Seattle’s Beacon Hill neighborhood on Friday afternoon.

Here is a breakdown of everything that transpired according to the authorities:

The Seattle Police Department first posted about the scene on social media around 12:28 p.m., noting that the incident took place close to the intersection of Golf Drive South and 14th Avenue South.

The situation began earlier that morning around 8:00 a.m. when a man called 911 to report a domestic assault at an apartment building. When officers arrived on the scene, they found the victim suffering from a cut he sustained during the attack. Paramedics with the Seattle Fire Department evaluated him at the location before he was transported to a local hospital for further treatment.

Events quickly escalated after the suspect locked herself inside the apartment. Police secured a search warrant from a judge to enter the unit. Investigating officers made their way inside; one officer fired their weapon and struck the woman. Before being taken into custody, the suspect managed to injure that same officer.

The woman remains in custody, and the investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
