Downtown Seattle Sees Massive July Boom With 3.7 Million Visitors

The Seattle Waterfront has been a major driver for a boom in visits to Seattle this summer. Over 3.7 million people visited downtown Seattle in the past month with majority of trips and visits to the Seattle waterfront as well as light rail ridership.

There has been an increase in local visits to the waterfront with a total of about 351,000 visits by the locals who live in 10 miles radius, all in July. The increase in foot traffic has greatly impacted the restaurants and businesses at Miners Landings on the Waterfront.

The Sunday Light Rail ridership has also hit a monthly record as there were about 743,000 light rail Sunday boardings or an average pf 123,000 boardings per Sunday last month. It marks the highest Sunday ridership for a given month in the agency history for Sound Transit and shows a greater increase in riders during non-commute hours.
