Several Bellevue employees operating for TikTok Shop, the e-commerce platform for the social media company, are being laid off as a result of the recent restructuring to the Company’s operations.

On Tuesday, a related entity filed a Worker Adjustment and Restraining Notification with Washington’s Employment Security Department on Tuesday. Acording to the files, 75 workers would be affected ranging from different departments and roles such as product managers, data scientists and software engineers, business analysts etc. The impacted employees may re-apply for different roles in the company and the separations are to commence 19th of October.

TikTok has laid off employees in its Bellevue office, focusing on TikTok Shop, after five years of operations aimed at leveraging local e-commerce talent. The cuts come shortly after laying off 250 employees in Nashville and follow a trend of increased layoffs among tech companies in the Seattle area, including Google, Zillow, and Microsoft. TikTok’s local presence includes around 1,628 employees, making it the 16th-largest tech employer in the Puget Sound region. The affected employees under TT Commerce & Global Services remain tied to ByteDance, despite a recent independent U.S. venture established due to national security concerns.
