Duke’s Seafood Closes Iconic Alki Beach Location After 25 Years

A beloved West Seattle dining destination has officially shut its doors. Duke’s Seafood on Alki, a longstanding favorite known for its waterfront views and Pacific Northwest fare, announced its immediate closure on Thursday, April 3, marking the end of a 25-year era at 2516 Alki Avenue SW.

The announcement came as part of a statement from owners Duke and John Moscrip, who confirmed that the location has been sold and ceased operations the same day.

“We absolutely loved creating memories for our loyal guests and neighbors at Duke’s on Alki and are extremely disappointed to have to do this, given the many challenges we were unable to overcome,” the Moscrips shared.

The closure of Duke’s Seafood on Alki represents a significant loss for both locals and visitors who frequented the iconic beachfront restaurant for its sustainable seafood dishes, laid-back ambiance, and sweeping views of Puget Sound.

Although the company has not disclosed specific reasons behind the closure, industry-wide challenges such as rising operational costs, staffing shortages, and shifting consumer patterns have impacted many Seattle-area restaurants in recent years.

Despite this location’s closure, Duke’s Seafood continues to operate its other restaurants across the greater Seattle area, including locations in South Lake Union, Green Lake, and Bellevue.

For West Seattle residents and regulars along Alki Beach, the shuttering of Duke’s marks the end of a familiar staple in the neighborhood’s culinary scene.
