ElastixAI, a newly established startup based in Seattle, has emerged from stealth mode with a mission to revolutionize AI inference technology. Founded by former Apple engineers Mohammad Rastegari, Saman Naderiparizi, and Mahyar Najibi, the company recently secured $16 million in funding led by Bellevue-based venture capital firm FUSE. ElastixAI aims to optimize the performance and efficiency of large language models (LLMs) across various hardware configurations, addressing one of the most pressing challenges in AI infrastructure today.

CEO Mohammad Rastegari, previously co-founder and CTO at Xnor—a Seattle startup acquired by Apple for approximately $200 million in 2020—brings extensive experience in edge-based AI tools. CTO Saman Naderiparizi, who led hardware engineering at Xnor and served as a senior engineering manager at Apple, and co-founder Mahyar Najibi, who also worked at Apple and spent three years at Waymo, complete the leadership team. Their combined expertise positions ElastixAI to tackle the complexities of AI inference at scale.

Inference, the process by which trained LLMs generate responses, is a significant driver of cost and complexity in AI deployment. ElastixAI’s platform is designed to enhance the performance and efficiency of these models, whether they’re operating on edge devices or within large-scale cloud environments. The company’s software-oriented approach allows for detailed system configuration, enabling clients to tailor inference infrastructure to their specific use cases.

While still operating in stealth mode, ElastixAI envisions its platform serving a diverse range of customers, from hyperscalers to enterprises integrating AI into daily operations. The company’s emphasis on flexibility and scalability addresses a critical need in the rapidly evolving AI landscape.

ElastixAI enters a competitive market with established players like Nvidia and Coreweave, as well as emerging startups such as Fireworks.ai and Together.ai. However, the founders believe that some of these companies could potentially become customers, leveraging ElastixAI’s technology to enhance their own AI inference capabilities.

As AI continues to permeate various industries, the demand for efficient and scalable inference solutions grows. ElastixAI’s innovative approach positions it to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of AI deployment, offering a platform that balances performance, cost-effectiveness, and adaptability.
