Seattle police are searching for a suspect after an 88-year-old woman was severely beaten and robbed at her home Monday evening in what authorities describe as a vicious attack.
The incident occurred in the 9900 block of 64th Avenue South, where the victim was cleaning items on her back porch when she was confronted by an unknown assailant. According to the Seattle Police Department, the man demanded the woman’s belongings. When she refused to comply, he launched a sustained assault on the elderly victim.
Police reports indicate the attacker dragged the woman into her garage, where he continued to beat her before stealing her personal items and fleeing the area. The victim’s screams for help alerted neighbors, though the suspect had already escaped by the time law enforcement arrived.
During interviews with responding officers, the woman recounted the terrifying ordeal, stating she believed the suspect intended to kill her during the assault.
Emergency medical personnel transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center, where she was listed in serious but stable condition. Hospital officials have not released further details regarding her injuries or current status.
A multi-agency response involving the Seattle Police Department, Burien Police, Tukwila Police, and the King County Sheriff’s Office conducted an extensive search of the surrounding area but was unable to locate the suspect. Investigators have described him only as a male in his thirties, and no further descriptive information has been made available at this time.
The case has been assigned to the department’s robbery detectives, with support from the Crime Scene Investigation Unit. The investigation remains active as authorities work to identify and apprehend the individual responsible for this violent crime.
