A man has been arrested in connection with two armed robberies that occurred within a span of 30 minutes in the early hours of May 21, 2025, in Federal Way, Washington. The suspect, whose identity has not yet been publicly released by authorities, is accused of robbing two separate businesses at gunpoint, discharging a firearm during each incident before fleeing with stolen cash.

According to Federal Way Police, both robberies took place between 2:30 a.m. and 3:00 a.m. Surveillance footage played a crucial role in identifying the suspect, who was captured on camera brandishing a handgun and firing it into the air during the commission of both crimes. Authorities say these dramatic acts of gunfire were intended to intimidate employees and expedite compliance with his demands for cash.

The city’s advanced surveillance system, which monitors several high-traffic and commercial areas, was instrumental in tracking the suspect’s movements before and after the incidents. The footage provided investigators with clear imagery of the suspect’s clothing, physical appearance, and vehicle, leading to a rapid identification and arrest later that day.

Federal Way Police confirmed that no injuries were reported in either robbery, although both incidents placed employees and customers in significant danger. Officers praised the victims for remaining calm and cooperative, which helped minimize the risk of escalation.

The suspect is currently being held in custody while the investigation continues. Charges are expected to include multiple counts of armed robbery, unlawful discharge of a firearm, and reckless endangerment. Authorities are also investigating whether the individual may be connected to other unsolved robberies in the South King County region.

This case highlights the effectiveness of modern surveillance technology in aiding law enforcement’s efforts to quickly respond to violent crime and ensure public safety. The Federal Way Police Department urges anyone with further information related to these incidents to contact their tip line.

The incident has raised renewed concerns in the Federal Way community about crime prevention, especially in the early morning hours when businesses are most vulnerable. Local officials have emphasized the importance of investing in public safety technology and supporting community policing strategies to deter similar crimes in the future.

As of now, police have not released additional details about the suspect’s background or any potential accomplices. The investigation remains ongoing, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
