Federal Way Police arrested a 16-year-old boy Wednesday in connection with the February homicide of 18-year-old Nena Edmonds, who was shot to death outside her Pavilion Apartments home.
Police responded to the Pavilion Apartments on February 13, finding Edmonds shot outside her residence. Despite immediate lifesaving efforts, Edmonds died from her injuries.
Federal Way Police Department detectives investigating the case since Edmonds’ death announced the October 8, 2025 arrest of the suspect, who was 15 at the time of the murder. He was arrested at his Issaquah home with Valley SWAT assistance and is in custody at the King County Juvenile Detention Center for investigation of murder.
Detectives have also identified a second suspect, a 19-year-old man with a prior relationship to Edmonds, who is currently detained on unrelated charges.
The case will be forwarded to the King County Prosecutor’s Office with recommended charges for both suspects. Their names are being withheld pending formal charges.
The eight-month investigation reflects the complexity of homicide cases involving juvenile suspects and multiple individuals. Federal Way Police Department’s major crimes unit worked to build the case before making arrests.
The February shooting occurred at the Pavilion Apartments, a residential complex in Federal Way where the victim lived. The circumstances leading to the shooting and the relationship between the suspects and victim remain under investigation.
The arrest of a juvenile suspect in a homicide case typically involves coordination between police, prosecutors, and juvenile justice authorities to determine appropriate charges given the suspect’s age at the time of the crime.
