Seattle police arrested five suspects, including four juveniles, after a 20-year-old driver was threatened at gunpoint near Denny Way early Sunday morning, triggering a pursuit that crossed multiple precincts before officers were able to take the group into custody.

Dispatchers received reports at approximately 3:08 a.m. that occupants of a vehicle had pointed firearms at a caller. Officers arrived in the 2900 block of 1st Avenue and made contact with the victim, who said he had been driving on the ramp to Dexter Avenue attempting to access Denny Way when a white minivan, possibly a Dodge, carrying four occupants pulled alongside his car. The driver of the minivan began driving erratically before stopping next to the victim’s vehicle at a stoplight, at which point two occupants pointed guns at him.

The victim drove away, running a red light to escape. The suspect vehicle followed before continuing westbound on Denny Way. Officers later located the vehicle and initiated a pursuit in the West Precinct area. They lost sight of it in the North Precinct before spotting it again a short time later in the Southwest Precinct and reinitiating the chase. Officers successfully ended the pursuit and took five suspects into custody.

Four juveniles, three boys and one girl, ranging in age from 14 to 17, were arrested on suspicion of assault and unlawful possession of a firearm and booked into the Judge Patricia H. Clark Children and Family Justice Center. An 18-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of assault and booked into King County Jail.

The vehicle was impounded and transported for processing.
