A King County Superior Court judge has ordered the City of Seattle to take additional steps to address public nudity and lewd behavior at Denny Blaine Park, while allowing the popular Lake Washington beach to remain open.

The ruling follows a lawsuit filed by a neighborhood group that sought to close the park over ongoing concerns about public sex, indecent exposure and other nuisance activity.

The court rejected the request to shut down the park but directed the city to implement stronger measures to reduce unlawful conduct.

The case has drawn opposition from Friends of Denny Blaine, an LGBTQ+-led advocacy group, which argued the beach has long served as an important gathering place for Seattle’s LGBTQ+ community and clothing-optional visitors.

The judge’s order requires the city to balance public access with enforcement efforts aimed at curbing illegal behavior, while preserving the park’s recreational use.
