The Seattle Kraken secured their captain for two more seasons Friday, signing Jordan Eberle to an extension that keeps the 35-year-old forward with the franchise through 2027-28 at an average annual value of $5.5 million.
Eberle is putting together one of his strongest campaigns in years, leading Seattle with 22 goals and 42 points through 59 games this season. General manager Jason Botterill emphasized the importance of retaining a veteran leader who embodies the organization’s culture while mentoring younger players.
“Obviously, when you have an opportunity to sign your captain for another two years, your leading scorer, a player that exemplifies so much that the Seattle Kraken are about, we are ecstatic to have him part of our organization for two more years,” Botterill said. “He’s a great leader for our young players.”

The extension rewards a career resurgence from Eberle, who’s scoring at a pace not seen since his first season with the Kraken in 2021-22. His 22 goals already match his output from last season, and he’s on track for his highest goal total since posting 34 during the 2011-12 campaign with Edmonton. Since joining Seattle as an expansion draft selection in 2021, Eberle has become the franchise’s offensive cornerstone, ranking second all-time in goals with 89 and third in both assists with 130 and points with 219.
Eberle expressed enthusiasm about remaining in Seattle, crediting both the organization and the fanbase for creating an environment where he wants to finish his career. “My family and I love Seattle. The organization is world-class, the culture here is incredible, and the fans have been amazing since Day 1,” Eberle said. “We want to win here, and I really believe we’re building something special in Seattle. I also want to thank Sam Holloway, Ron Francis and Jason Botterill for believing in me.”
The contract keeps Eberle in Seattle through age 37, representing a bet that his production remains strong even as he enters the twilight of his career. The No. 22 overall pick from the 2008 NHL entry draft has accumulated 770 points across 1,119 career games with Edmonton, the New York Islanders, and Seattle. The extension provides stability atop the lineup as the Kraken work to build a consistent playoff contender after missing the postseason in their second and third years following their inaugural campaign.
