A high-risk fugitive, Lane Scott Phipps, 26, was captured following a tense standoff and police-involved shooting in Lynnwood earlier this week.
Phipps, wanted on multiple felony warrants including attempted murder and assault, was spotted by law enforcement at a Pick-n-Pull wrecking yard off Highway 99. During the attempted arrest, Phipps reportedly held a handgun to a woman’s head before fleeing on foot and allegedly firing at officers. Police returned fire, but no injuries were reported at the scene.
The suspect fled in a black Jaguar XF, leading to a regional manhunt. He was ultimately apprehended in Yakima by U.S. Marshals and is now facing charges including assault on a law enforcement officer and unlawful firearm possession.
Authorities credit inter-agency collaboration for Phipps’s arrest and emphasized the dangers faced by officers during violent felony apprehensions. Lynnwood Police confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may be filed
