A man and his dog were killed after a mobile home caught fire Friday afternoon near Monroe, prompting an emergency response from Snohomish Regional Fire & Rescue.
Firefighters were dispatched to a home on Friar Creek Road shortly before 3:30 p.m. following reports of smoke coming from the residence.
When crews arrived, they found the mobile home engulfed in flames and were informed that someone might still be inside.
During a primary search of the home, firefighters located a man and a dog but despite immediate life-saving efforts, both were pronounced dead.
The victim’s identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
Family members of the man, who lived in the mobile home were able to escape and are now receiving support from the American Red Cross as they recover from the tragedy.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
