A 47-year-old man was arrested Monday evening after allegedly stabbing another man outside the PCC Community Markets on California Avenue Southwest in West Seattle. The victim, who sustained a shoulder wound, sought refuge inside the store and was promptly transported to Harborview Medical Center. As of the latest reports, he is in stable condition.
Following the attack, Seattle Police initiated a manhunt, deploying a K-9 unit to assist in locating the suspect. Approximately half a mile from the crime scene, near 51st Avenue and Pritchard, residents observed heightened police activity. Neighbors reported seeing a man hiding in a backyard, leading to his subsequent apprehension. Local resident Michael Papahronis recounted, “We heard a lot of police activity for about a half hour, so we locked our doors, went inside. Next thing I know, I got these four [police officers] and a K-9 in our backyard, and they chased him to the other street over here.”
Reports indicate that the suspect was carrying a knife and a skateboard at the time of the incident. Additionally, it is alleged that he stole a woman’s phone near the PCC store. However, as of the latest updates, these items have not been recovered.
The motive behind the stabbing remains unclear, and Seattle Police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
