A suspect potentially linked to multiple smash-and-grab robberies across western Washington has been arrested for allegedly stealing $2 million in merchandise from a West Seattle jewelry store in August.

The 29-year-old suspect, identified in charging documents as Da’Sean Harrison, was apprehended by Seattle Police Department detectives and Renton police on October 16 in connection with multiple robberies and additional weapons charges, the SPD announced.

Harrison is a convicted felon prohibited from possessing firearms.

Police recovered two guns, ammunition, narcotics, and other evidence during his arrest related to the robberies, officials stated.

He is being held at the Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent on $250,000 bail.

The robbery at Menashe & Sons Jeweler on California Avenue Southwest occurred in broad daylight around noon on August 14. Video released from inside the store shows suspects breaking glass containers and stealing merchandise before fleeing.

Police determined four masked suspects used hammers to smash the locked front glass door. Once inside, they smashed six glass display cases and stole an estimated $2 million worth of jewelry, diamonds, and luxury watches.

According to the police report, “one of the glass jewelry displays contained $700-800K in Rolex watches, another contained an emerald necklace valued at $125K and a platinum diamond. Two other display cases contained a large amount of gold jewelry.”

None of the stolen jewelry items, including emerald necklaces, gold bracelets, Rolex watches, and platinum diamonds, have been recovered, the SPD said.

Harrison is also connected to $350,000 in pawn shop thefts across Renton and Shoreline. Harrison allegedly used a sledgehammer to rob two pawn shops, one in Renton in January and another in Shoreline in February, resulting in over $350,000 in jewelry, coins, and other items stolen.

Charging documents state that while SPD detectives investigated the Menashe & Sons robbery, they learned of a similar case the Renton Police Department was handling involving Cash America pawn shops.

Detectives collaborated to gather evidence connecting Harrison to robberies throughout this year.

According to charging documents, Harrison rented a car for the Menashe & Sons robbery, and detectives tracked down a cell phone number through those records. His cell phone data placed him at the robbery location and the getaway car location, documents state.

Detectives also pinpointed the rental car at multiple locations associated with Harrison.

Harrison was captured on camera at a Home Depot a week before the Menashe & Sons robbery obtaining items later used in the crime, including multiple sledgehammers, gloves, and garbage bags, charging documents say.

He allegedly faked scanning the items at the Home Depot self-checkout line and left without paying.

On October 16, Harrison was taken into custody by Renton police in connection with their investigation into the pawn shop robberies. Once detained, Seattle detectives gathered additional information that led them to file charges for the Menashe & Sons robbery.

Three suspects remain at large in connection with the Menashe & Sons robbery and other incidents in the Seattle area.

The SPD said the investigation remains active and ongoing.

The $2 million merchandise theft from Menashe & Sons Jeweler represents one of Seattle’s largest jewelry heists in recent memory, with the August 14 broad daylight timing demonstrating brazen criminal confidence that daytime operations won’t deter coordinated smash-and-grab crews.

Da’Sean Harrison’s status as a convicted felon possessing firearms adds federal weapons charges to state robbery counts, potentially triggering mandatory minimum sentences under laws prohibiting firearm possession by individuals with felony convictions.

The four-person crew using hammers to breach the front door before smashing six display cases indicates planned coordination where participants divided roles between entry, smashing displays, grabbing merchandise, and maintaining lookout positions during the rapid theft.

The $700,000 to $800,000 Rolex watch collection in a single display case demonstrates Menashe & Sons’ status as a high-end jeweler catering to wealthy clientele, making the store an attractive target for thieves knowing luxury watches hold value and resell easily.

The $125,000 emerald necklace and platinum diamond items represent individual pieces whose extraordinary values reflect the jewelry district’s concentration of expensive inventory that criminals can fence through underground networks or melt down for raw materials.

The zero recovery rate for stolen merchandise suggests either the crew immediately transported items out of state to fencing operations in other jurisdictions or melted gold and platinum pieces to destroy identifying characteristics before selling raw metals.

Harrison’s connection to $350,000 in pawn shop robberies across Renton and Shoreline indicates a serial robbery pattern where the suspect and potential associates targeted vulnerable retail locations throughout the region over ten months.

The January Renton and February Shoreline pawn shop hits using sledgehammers demonstrate consistent methodology where Harrison allegedly employed similar tools and tactics across multiple robberies before escalating to the $2 million West Seattle score.

The rental car use for the Menashe & Sons robbery provided investigators critical evidence linking Harrison to the crime through documentation creating paper trail rental companies maintain including driver’s licenses, credit cards, and phone numbers.

The cell phone location data placing Harrison at both the robbery scene and getaway car location represents digital evidence increasingly crucial to modern investigations where tower pings and GPS data create timeline documentation suspects cannot easily dispute.

The Home Depot surveillance footage capturing Harrison purchasing robbery tools a week before the heist demonstrates premeditation elevating charges from opportunistic theft to calculated robbery involving planning, reconnaissance, and equipment acquisition.

The fake scanning at Home Depot self-checkout to steal sledgehammers, gloves, and garbage bags adds theft charges while revealing Harrison’s criminal mindset where even petty shoplifting accompanied major robbery planning to avoid legitimate tool purchases creating additional evidence trails.

The October 16 arrest by Renton police on pawn shop robbery charges provided Seattle detectives opportunity to interview Harrison and gather additional evidence connecting him to the Menashe & Sons heist, demonstrating inter-agency cooperation benefits.

The three outstanding suspects remaining at large create ongoing public safety concerns as accomplices who participated in the $2 million heist remain free to potentially commit additional robberies or violent crimes while evading capture.

The $250,000 bail amount reflects judges’ assessment of Harrison’s flight risk and public danger given the serious robbery charges, prior felony conviction, illegal weapons possession, and potential for additional violent criminal activity if released.

The Maleng Regional Justice Center detention in Kent places Harrison in South King County’s primary jail facility serving multiple jurisdictions where he awaits trial on charges that could result in decades of imprisonment if convicted on all counts.

West Seattle’s California Avenue Southwest location places Menashe & Sons in a neighborhood commercial district where businesses operate with lower security expectations than downtown jewelry districts, potentially making them softer targets for robbery crews.

The active ongoing investigation suggests Seattle detectives believe additional suspects beyond the three outstanding individuals may have participated in supporting roles like fencing stolen goods, providing getaway vehicles, or conducting surveillance before the robbery.
