Seattle police are investigating a shooting that left a 44-year-old man seriously injured in the Cherry Hill neighborhood early Saturday morning.
According to authorities, officers responded to reports of gunfire around 3:50 a.m. in the 2200 block of East Madison Street. Upon arrival, they found the victim with a gunshot wound to the shoulder. Officers administered life-saving aid until Seattle Fire Department medics arrived and transported him to Harborview Medical Center, where he remains in serious but stable condition.
The suspect fled the scene immediately after the shooting and has not yet been apprehended.
Preliminary witness statements suggest that an altercation between the victim and a group of individuals preceded the shooting.
Detectives from the Seattle Police Department’s Robbery Unit have taken over the investigation, working to determine the circumstances that led to the incident.
