Seattle police are investigating a early morning shooting near Belltown on 12 June that left a 36-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his left leg and sent a suspect fleeing through surrounding streets before officers arrived.

Officers responded at approximately 2:34 a.m. to reports of gunfire near 3rd Avenue and Pike Street, arriving to find the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his left leg. Officers provided immediate aid until Seattle Fire Department medics arrived and transported the man to Harborview Medical Center in serious but stable condition.

Investigators determined the suspect fled the scene westbound on Pike Street and then northbound through a nearby alley shortly after the shooting. Officers searched the surrounding area but were unable to locate the suspect. A firearm was recovered from the alley.

Detectives from the Gun Violence Reduction Unit are leading the investigation and working to establish what led to the shooting.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Seattle Police Department Violent Crimes Tip Line at 206-233-5000.
