Microsoft reported $90 billion in revenue for the April to June quarter on Wednesday, up 18 percent from a year earlier, with earnings of $4.81 per share. Analysts surveyed by FactSet had expected $87.62 billion and $4.24 per share. Shares rose about 9 percent in after-hours trading to $426.03.
Microsoft Cloud generated $59.3 billion, a 27 percent increase year over year, while Azure and other cloud services grew 43 percent. Chief executive Satya Nadella said Azure passed $100 billion in annual revenue for the first time and Microsoft 365 Copilot reached more than 30 million paid seats. Full fiscal year revenue, through June 30, was $331.8 billion.
Chief financial officer Amy Hood said capital spending expectations for 2026 are unchanged, with an accounting change moving the guidance figure to about $175 billion. Capital expenditures were $41 billion in the quarter.
The results follow the company’s July 6 announcement of 4,800 job cuts worldwide, including 605 positions in Washington, 493 of them in Redmond, effective September.
