A tragic crash late Tuesday night in Seattle’s Interbay neighborhood left a man dead and a woman seriously injured, according to Seattle police.

The collision occurred shortly after 11 p.m. near 15th Avenue West and West Newton Street. Officers responding to the scene found a 32-year-old man critically injured in the road. Despite emergency treatment by Seattle Fire Department crews, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A woman who had just stepped off a bus and was crossing the street westbound was struck by the motorcycle. She suffered serious injuries and was rushed to Harborview Medical Center, where she remains in critical condition.

Witnesses told investigators that the motorcycle was heading north on 15th Avenue West at a very high speed before hitting the pedestrian. The rider reportedly collided with the woman as she crossed in front of traffic after exiting the transit vehicle.

Seattle Police say detectives from their Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS) are handling the case. Authorities are urging anyone who saw the crash or has additional information to call 206-684-8923.
