Reports of a new wildfire burning near Lake Kachess are in uproar, while fire crews also continue to fight the growing flames diligently. Areas surrounding Lake Kachess, east of Snoqualmie Pass are reported to be the most affected with heavy thunderstorms and dry conditions heightened wildfire danger across Washington.
The Three Queens Fire, first reported Thursday morning, has burned an estimated 25 acres in steep, rugged terrain near Three Queens Mountain and Hibox Mountain. Firefighters are using both ground and air resources to slow the fire’s spread.
The fire ignited just hours after the National Weather Service issued western Washington’s first Red Flag Warning of the season, citing dry lightning, gusty winds and low humidity as conditions that could rapidly spread new wildfires.
Officials are urging residents and travelers to remain alert, and avoid activities that could spark additional fires.
