One Person Dead After Apartment Fire in Tacoma’s Stadium District

One person has died following an apartment fire in Tacoma’s Stadium District late Tuesday night, according to the Tacoma Fire Department.

Crews responded at approximately 11:47 p.m. to reports of a fire near the corner of North Yakima Avenue and North 2nd Street. Upon arrival, firefighters found flames coming from the first floor and climbing up the exterior of the building. Crews extinguished the fire quickly and contained it to one unit and a portion of the building’s exterior, but one person was found dead at the scene.

The cause of the fire and the identity of the victim have not yet been released. The investigation is ongoing.
