Two young men lost their lives after a late-night shooting in a parking lot in west Olympia. Police found a 20-year-old dead at the scene, while a 17-year-old who was driven to a nearby hospital later died from his injuries.
Investigators say the two had arranged to meet to settle an ongoing conflict. What began as a face-to-face attempt to address their differences quickly escalated into an argument, with both reportedly pulling out guns and shooting each other.
Police do not believe the incident poses any further risk to the community and say there are no outstanding suspects. Detectives continue to piece together what happened, having recovered a firearm and seized vehicles connected to the case.
