A broken piling on the floating dock at Pier 62 will be removed Friday, prompting a temporary closure of the entire pier, Seattle Parks and Recreation announced Thursday.
The Seattle Department of Transportation’s roadway structures crew is scheduled to remove the broken piling segment from the water on Friday, Jan. 30. The entire pier will be closed to the public on Friday while crews remove the damaged piling. The floating dock is currently closed and will remain closed until repairs are completed.

Pier 62 is known for hosting programming and events associated with the Overlook Walk and Seattle’s Waterfront Park. More recently, Pier 62 became home to a new outdoor sauna experience featuring wood-fired saunas and cold plunges.
After nearly three years of construction, Seattle’s Waterfront Park at Pier 58 officially opened last summer and has attracted many visitors. It completed years of projects aimed at revitalizing Seattle’s waterfront area.
After the piling is pulled, the pier is expected to reopen to the public. The floating dock, however, will remain closed until further notice.
