Seattle police are investigating a double stabbing that occurred Friday evening near a homeless shelter in the city’s downtown area.

Authorities responded to reports of a stabbing at approximately 7:15 p.m. in the 600 block of 3rd Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered two individuals with stab wounds. Both victims received immediate aid from police and Seattle Fire Department personnel before being transported to a nearby medical center. They are currently reported to be in serious but stable condition.

According to preliminary details released by the Seattle Police Department, a 38-year-old man approached a male victim and stabbed him outside the shelter. Two women accompanying the victim chased the suspect, and one woman was stabbed when she caught up with him.

The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and investigators are working to determine the events leading up to the violence.

Police located the suspect nearby shortly after the incident and took him into custody. He has been booked into jail on two counts of investigation of assault.

Detectives from the Seattle Police Department’s Homicide and Assault Unit are handling the ongoing investigation.

The double stabbing outside the homeless shelter highlights continued concerns about safety in downtown Seattle, an area that has faced challenges related to homelessness and public safety.
