Recall charges have been filed against Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson, launching the first step in a legal process that could eventually lead to a recall election. The filing centers on Wilson’s handling of public safety concerns, police leadership and the city’s surveillance camera system, though the allegations have not been proven or reviewed by a court.
On the 11th August, the charges were submitted to King County Elections. Before supporters can begin collecting signatures, the filing must first undergo a technical review by the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office and then face review in King County Superior Court. A judge must determine whether the accusations meet Washington’s legal standards for a recall to proceed.
