A 20-year-old man from Seattle was fatally shot in the parking lot of The Cove Apartments in Federal Way, Washington, on the afternoon of Thursday, May 29, 2025. The fatal shooting occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. near Southwest 330th Street, prompting a swift response from local law enforcement and drawing concern from neighborhood residents.

According to the Federal Way Police Department, officers arrived at the scene shortly after multiple 911 calls reported gunfire in the area. When authorities reached the location, they discovered the young man lying unresponsive in the parking lot. Despite life-saving efforts by first responders, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses reported hearing a single gunshot, followed by the sound of a vehicle fleeing the area at high speed. One resident, Giovanni Shull, who was working from home at the time, described the moment as both sudden and terrifying. He stated that after hearing the shot, he looked out his window and saw the victim lying motionless on the ground. Other neighbors corroborated the account, noting that a black car was seen speeding away from the apartment complex immediately after the shooting.

Federal Way detectives are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. At this time, no arrests have been made, and the identity of the suspect or suspects remains unknown. Authorities are reviewing surveillance footage from nearby buildings and interviewing residents in hopes of gathering more evidence.

The name of the deceased has not yet been released pending official notification of the next of kin. The Federal Way Police Department is urging anyone with information related to the shooting to come forward. Individuals with knowledge about the crime can contact the department directly or provide anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers.

This fatal shooting in Federal Way adds to growing concerns about gun violence in King County communities. Local leaders have emphasized the importance of public cooperation in solving violent crimes and maintaining neighborhood safety.
