On the night of Saturday, May 24, 2025, a tense and prolonged police standoff unfolded in Seattle’s Chinatown-International District following a shooting incident targeting a food delivery driver. The incident resulted in the arrest of two suspects, the recovery of firearms, and a significant law enforcement response that lasted through the early morning hours of Sunday.

At approximately 11:50 p.m., Seattle police officers responded to a report of gunfire near the intersection of 8th Avenue South and South Jackson Street. According to the Seattle Police Department, a food delivery driver had been shot at by a suspect while conducting a delivery in the area. The driver’s vehicle was struck by bullets, but fortunately, the driver was not physically injured during the attack.

The suspect immediately fled the scene and barricaded himself inside a nearby apartment building located on South Jackson Street. In response, officers quickly established a security perimeter and called in specialized units to manage the escalating situation. The Seattle Police Department’s SWAT team, Hostage Negotiation Team, K9 units, and additional tactical resources from the Bellevue Police Department were deployed to support the operation.

Law enforcement spent the next eight hours attempting to negotiate with the individuals inside the apartment. The operation was carefully coordinated to ensure public safety and to bring the standoff to a peaceful resolution. After obtaining a legal search warrant, officers made entry into the apartment early Sunday morning.

Inside, police arrested a 41-year-old male suspect believed to be responsible for the initial shooting. He was taken into custody and booked into King County Jail on charges of assault. A 34-year-old woman was also arrested at the scene on unrelated outstanding warrants connected to forgery and organized retail theft.

During the arrest, police recovered two firearms from the apartment. These weapons are believed to have been used in the shooting incident involving the food delivery driver. The Seattle Police Department confirmed that evidence collection and investigation are ongoing, as authorities work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the shooting and the suspects’ intentions.

The incident was part of a troubling pattern of gun-related violence reported across Seattle during the 2025 Memorial Day weekend. Law enforcement agencies are increasing their efforts to curb gun violence and ensure the safety of residents and visitors in high-traffic neighborhoods such as the Chinatown-International District.

Seattle police are urging anyone with additional information related to the incident to come forward. Tips can be submitted anonymously through the department’s tip line or Crime Stoppers.

This case highlights the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in addressing rising incidents of urban gun violence. It also underscores the critical role played by coordinated tactical responses and community vigilance in resolving potentially dangerous public safety threats.
