Seattle police are searching for two men who allegedly carried out an illegal BASE jump from the 605-foot Space Needle on Friday night. The suspects, who reportedly purchased admission tickets before entering the landmark, are expected to face trespassing charges.
According to investigators, the men were captured on security cameras entering a restroom on the observation deck before emerging wearing helmets. They then ran toward the edge, climbed over the glass safety barrier, and leapt from the structure using parachutes.
Security personnel were unable to determine where the men landed, and responding officers could not locate them. Authorities described the suspects as white men in their late 20s, while efforts to identify and apprehend them remain ongoing.
The Space Needle confirmed it is cooperating fully with the Seattle Police Department by reviewing surveillance footage and assisting with the investigation. The incident comes weeks after another high-profile stunt at New York’s Empire State Building, highlighting growing concerns over dangerous acts at iconic landmarks.
