Seattle police are investigating a hit-and-run incident that left a 49-year-old man in critical condition early Monday morning after he was struck while riding a scooter in the city’s downtown area.

The collision occurred around 2:15 a.m. in the 200 block of 1st Avenue South near Occidental Square. Responding officers arrived at the scene to find the victim lying in the roadway with a severe head injury.

Police immediately provided first aid until Seattle Fire Department medics arrived and took over emergency care. The injured man was subsequently transported to Harborview Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the man had been riding his scooter along 1st Avenue South when he was hit by a vehicle. The driver failed to stop, offer assistance, or contact emergency services before fleeing the scene.

Authorities are now seeking public assistance in identifying the suspect involved in the crash. Anyone with information is urged to call 911 or contact the Seattle Police Department’s Traffic Collision Investigation Squad directly at 206-684-8923.

The investigation remains ongoing as detectives work to gather surveillance footage and eyewitness accounts that could lead to the identification and arrest of the driver.
