Seattle’s SODO neighborhood became the scene of a violent incident early Sunday morning as police continue investigating a shooting that left one man critically injured.

Officers from the Seattle Police Department (SPD) responded to a 9:00 a.m. emergency call reporting a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest near a transit platform in the 500 block of South Royal Brougham Way. According to authorities, the injured man approached deputies from the King County Sheriff’s Office but was unable to pinpoint the exact location where the shooting took place.

In response, officers canvassed a wide area around the transit corridor, seeking evidence and witnesses to piece together the sequence of events. Despite their efforts, no suspect has been identified or apprehended as of Sunday evening.

Paramedics from the Seattle Fire Department provided on-site emergency care before transporting the victim to Harborview Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition.

The Seattle Police Department’s Gang Unit has taken over the investigation, citing the seriousness of the case and the ongoing concern around gun-related violence in the city. Detectives are working diligently to determine the motive and circumstances surrounding the shooting, which currently lacks clear leads.

Authorities are now calling on the public for assistance. Individuals who may have seen or heard anything relevant to the incident are encouraged to contact the SPD Violent Crimes Tip Line at (206) 233-5000.

The shooting marks another troubling chapter in Seattle’s efforts to address rising gun violence and public safety concerns, particularly in high-traffic urban zones like SODO. Police continue to urge community vigilance and cooperation as investigations proceed.
