Seattle-based technology company Zuper has unveiled a new product that could redefine how skilled tradespeople work in the field. The company introduced Zuper Glass, an AI-powered smart glasses system built to enhance safety, efficiency, and hands-free communication for professionals such as roofers, electricians, and plumbers.

The voice-activated glasses allow users to take photos, record videos, conduct inspections, and communicate with colleagues without putting down their tools. Powered by artificial intelligence, Zuper Glass integrates directly with the company’s mobile app and software suite, giving users real-time access to work orders, scheduling, customer updates, and payment systems while on the job.

“Zuper Glass represents a major leap forward in how field service work is done,” said Anand Subbaraj, CEO and co-founder of Zuper. “It’s built for the people who are out there every day, doing the difficult and essential jobs that keep our communities running. This technology gives them the tools to work smarter, safer, and faster.”

Founded in 2020, Zuper has quickly grown into a key player in the field service management space, offering digital solutions that streamline operations for businesses with remote or mobile workers. The company’s global workforce of more than 200 employees is split between offices in Seattle and India, reflecting its hybrid tech and engineering footprint.

The introduction of Zuper Glass marks the company’s expansion into wearable technology, a space that has recently attracted attention from major players like Amazon and Meta, who are also developing AI-assisted smart glasses. Unlike those designed for consumer use, however, Zuper’s model is tailored to professional environments where safety and hands-free functionality are critical.

By combining Zuper’s AI-driven software with practical, durable hardware, the glasses aim to reduce downtime, improve reporting accuracy, and enhance collaboration across field teams. Workers can access real-time data or relay visual updates to supervisors without interrupting their tasks, potentially transforming productivity standards across construction, electrical, and mechanical industries.

Zuper’s growth trajectory has been bolstered by investor confidence. The company raised $32 million in Series B funding in December 2023, led by Seattle-based venture capital firm FUSE, to expand its product offerings and advance its AI capabilities.

“Zuper Glass is not just a product,” Subbaraj said. “It’s part of a broader mission to empower the people behind essential industries, giving them technology that improves safety, performance, and the overall quality of their work.”

As Zuper pushes into the hardware market, its move reinforces Seattle’s position as a national hub for innovation in AI, wearable tech, and smart workplace solutions.
