Several people were injured in a four-vehicle crash involving a semi-truck on Interstate 5 North in Lynnwood, Washington, early Saturday morning. The collision shut down all northbound lanes except the HOV lane, causing major traffic delays.
The Washington State Patrol said one person was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI). Authorities did not identify the driver, but confirmed the semi-truck driver remained at the scene and is not considered a suspect.
Multiple people were hurt in the crash, with one person taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. Officials had not released the identities of the victims or the full extent of their injuries.
The investigation kept four lanes of the freeway closed for about five hours, creating traffic backups of more than a mile near Alderwood Mall. Some motorists reported being delayed by up to an hour before all lanes were eventually reopened.
