King County Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested a male staff member at Skykomish K-12 School on Friday as part of a sexual assault investigation involving a school-aged juvenile.

The investigation began during the first week of March 2026 and initially focused on a single adult male staff member and one juvenile, according to the sheriff’s office. On the morning of March 6, detectives with the agency’s Special Assault Unit arrested the staff member at the school. He was booked into King County Jail for investigation of rape of a child.

Detectives continue to investigate the case, which remains open and active. The findings will be presented to the King County Prosecutor’s Office for review. Investigators said they are not aware of any additional victims at this time but are asking anyone with relevant information to come forward.

No additional details were released. Authorities said further information or inquiries should be directed to the King County Prosecutor’s Office after the weekend. The arrest comes as schools face increasing scrutiny over how they handle allegations of abuse and misconduct by staff members who work directly with children.

The small Skykomish school serves students from kindergarten through 12th grade in the rural community east of Seattle. The sheriff’s office has not disclosed what role the arrested staff member held at the school or whether the school took any administrative action before the arrest.
