A fatal shooting and subsequent vehicle collision in South Seattle early Saturday morning left two people dead, triggering an active investigation by local homicide detectives.

Emergency personnel rushed to the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Way South and South Graham Street following multiple 911 calls reporting a traffic accident at approximately 2:40 a.m. Crews from the Seattle Fire Department arrived at the scene prior to law enforcement and located a vehicle that had mounted a curb.

Upon closer inspection of the wreckage, firefighters discovered that both occupants, a man and a woman, were suffering from gunshot wounds, prompting an immediate call for police backup.

Fire responders administered emergency medical aid to both victims at the site of the crash. Despite those life-saving efforts, the female victim was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after the medics arrived.

The male victim was rushed by ambulance to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition, where medical staff later pronounced him deceased as well.

Detectives from the Seattle Police Department’s Homicide Unit responded to the crash site to determine the sequence of events that led up to the shooting.

As of now, authorities have not made any arrests in connection with the incident. Detectives noted that they are not actively searching for any outstanding suspects, leaving it unclear whether a third party was involved.

The Seattle Police Department is appealing to the public for assistance and urges anyone with information regarding the shooting or crash to contact the SPD Violent Crimes Tip Line at (206) 233-5000.
