Lucas Jumalon, a 22-year-old from Spokane, won the 2026 World Series of Poker Main Event on Wednesday night in Las Vegas, beating Finland’s Lauri Saaskilahti heads-up for the $10 million first prize and the championship bracelet. He now makes history as  the first Washington player to win the event and the second-youngest champion behind Joe Cada, who took it at 21 in 2009.

The field of 9,208 entries was the fourth largest in the event’s history. Jumalon finished Day 1b with 7,400 chips, rebuilt, and held the chip lead on every hand of the final table. The heads-up match lasted 17 hands.

Both finalists came in with modest records, Jumalon at roughly $180,000 in career live earnings and Saaskilahti at about $138,000. Jumalon graduated from Grand Canyon University in business administration and data analytics, and started playing poker in his senior year of high school.

The WSOP delayed this year’s final table by twenty days to accommodate a live ESPN broadcast, the first such delay since the November Nine format ended in 2016. Jumalon is the fourth consecutive American champion.
