A person was rescued after a vehicle was found dangling over a concrete embankment Saturday in downtown Tacoma, with technical rescue teams stabilizing the car before extracting the driver unharmed.
Tacoma Fire Department’s technical rescue team responded at 11:56 a.m. to the 2100 block of South C Street, where a vehicle was hanging over a 20-foot concrete embankment above a parking lot. Crews stabilized the car and rescued the occupant. No injuries were reported.

Tacoma police are investigating the cause of the incident. Authorities have not disclosed how the vehicle ended up in the precarious position or whether the driver lost control, drove through a barrier, or experienced mechanical failure.
The rescue required specialized equipment and training to prevent the vehicle from falling while extracting the person inside. Technical rescue operations involve rigging systems that stabilize unstable structures or vehicles before rescuers can safely access victims.
