A 17-year-old boy is recovering after being shot in a shocking and brazen incident involving a dirt bike rider in Auburn, Washington. The shooting occurred on the evening of Tuesday, May 21, 2025, in the vicinity of the College Place Mobile Home Park, located near 126th Avenue Southeast.

According to Auburn Police, the teenager was walking near the mobile home park entrance shortly after 7:45 p.m. when the unidentified suspect approached him on a dirt bike. Witnesses stated that the suspect dismounted the dirt bike, pulled out a firearm, and discharged at least one shot at the teen before fleeing the scene on the same vehicle. The shooter’s identity remains unknown, and no arrest has been made as of this report.

The victim, whose name has not been released due to his age, sustained injuries described as non-life-threatening. Emergency medical services responded quickly, and the teen was transported to a nearby hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment and is expected to recover.

Authorities have launched an investigation and are actively seeking leads in the case. Auburn Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has information about the suspect to come forward. Tipsters can contact the Auburn Police Department Tip Line at 253-288-7403.

This incident has raised concerns among local residents about community safety and the increasing use of dirt bikes in violent crimes. Police are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity involving unlicensed vehicles, particularly dirt bikes in residential areas.

Law enforcement is reviewing surveillance footage from the area and canvassing nearby neighborhoods for potential witnesses or additional evidence. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and investigators have not confirmed whether the suspect and the victim knew each other.

This Auburn shooting is the latest in a series of incidents across King County involving youth violence and firearms, underscoring the need for continued community engagement, law enforcement resources, and violence prevention programs.

The Auburn Police Department continues to pursue all leads and encourages anyone with relevant information to assist in the investigation. Community cooperation is considered vital in helping law enforcement bring the perpetrator to justice and ensuring public safety.
