Valley Medical Center, located in Renton, Washington, has long been a cornerstone of healthcare in the region, serving over 600,000 residents in South King County. As the largest nonprofit healthcare provider between Seattle and Tacoma, the center has continued to expand its services to meet the growing healthcare needs of the community. In early 2025, Valley Medical Center marked a significant milestone with the opening of the first phase of its new Cancer Center on February 3, 2025. This state-of-the-art facility is located in the East Pavilion and is designed to offer integrated, compassionate care for patients battling cancer.

The new Cancer Center includes a 41-bay infusion center, a modern infusion pharmacy, and both private and semi-private rooms to ensure patient comfort. One of the highlights of the facility is the Trapper and Samantha Wellbeing Resource Center, which offers a range of supportive services aimed at improving the quality of life for oncology patients and their families. This development is a major step forward for Valley Medical Center, offering specialized cancer treatments and personalized care to patients in the area.

The expansion of the Cancer Center has been made possible through the generous contributions of community members like Tina McDonough, the founder of the local nonprofit Valley Girls & Guys. McDonough’s dedication to cancer patients and their families has been pivotal in the development of the center. In recognition of her tireless efforts, the Infusion & Immunotherapy Center within the facility was named the “Tina McDonough & Family Infusion & Immunotherapy Center.” This tribute came during a ribbon-cutting ceremony held on January 16, 2025, which marked the official launch of the new Cancer Center.

With this expansion, Valley Medical Center continues its commitment to providing high-quality, accessible healthcare to the residents of South King County. The center’s investment in cancer care represents a significant advancement in its ability to address the specific needs of oncology patients in the region. The new Cancer Center is a reflection of the medical facility’s ongoing dedication to meeting the evolving healthcare demands of the community and improving patient outcomes.

Valley Medical Center’s expansion not only strengthens its position as a leader in healthcare in South King County but also serves as a model for community-based healthcare initiatives. By focusing on patient-centered care and providing cutting-edge medical treatments, the center remains a trusted resource for those in need of medical attention. The opening of the Cancer Center is just the beginning of Valley Medical Center’s continued growth and its commitment to enhancing healthcare services in the region.
