Authorities are actively searching for a fugitive who escaped custody at Seattle–Tacoma International Airport on Sunday morning while being transported by a contracted law enforcement agent.

The individual, identified as Sedrick T. Stevenson, is wanted on multiple warrants out of Bowling Green, Kentucky, including a charge of second-degree escape. According to the Port of Seattle Police, Stevenson fled custody during the check-in process at an airline ticket counter around 11 a.m.

Police say the contracted agent lost control of the suspect, who immediately fled on foot in the direction of the airport’s Link light rail station. Despite efforts to pursue him, the agent was unable to apprehend Stevenson.

Surveillance footage confirmed that Stevenson successfully boarded a northbound light rail train. Additional security video from Sound Transit shows the suspect later exiting the train at Capitol Hill Station in Seattle.

At the time of his escape, Stevenson was wearing a white shirt, a white zip-up hoodie, and grey pants. Authorities are urging anyone who may have seen him or has information on his whereabouts to contact local law enforcement.

The incident has raised concerns about transportation security and the protocols followed by contracted agents responsible for handling individuals in custody. Port of Seattle Police have not released details on how Stevenson managed to evade the agent or whether further security measures will be implemented in response to the escape.

The investigation is ongoing, and updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
