In response to escalating crime rates in the East Precinct, the Seattle Police Department (SPD) is organizing a Community-Police Dialogue meeting on Monday, May 12, 2025. The session aims to foster open communication between law enforcement and residents, addressing public safety concerns specific to neighborhoods like Capitol Hill and the Central District.

Recent data indicates that, unlike other Seattle precincts, the East Precinct has not experienced a significant decline in property crimes during the first quarter of 2025. While areas like the North, South, and Southwest Precincts saw reductions ranging from 25% to 30%, the East Precinct’s decrease was modest. Moreover, violent crimes, including a notable increase in reported sexual assaults, have risen in the same timeframe.

Date: Monday, May 12, 2025

Location: [Specific venue details not provided; please refer to the official SPD website or contact the East Precinct for more information.

Participants: The meeting will include SPD recruits, officers, command staff, crime prevention coordinators, community service officers, administrative professionals, and local residents. Community members are encouraged to attend and share their experiences, concerns, and suggestions to collaboratively enhance neighborhood safety.
